Olive Young Seongsu Yeonbang, Olive Young, 2024.9.20

Olive Young commissioned us to design the interior for a new store at Seongsu Yeonbang, a once-popular location in Seongsu-dong. They sought to break away from their traditional image and wanted a fresh design that would harmonize with the unique atmosphere and character of Seongsu-dong.
Designing a space that houses various cosmetic brands and products is no easy task. Each brand and product seeks to express its own individuality, making it challenging to arrange and present them in a cohesive and visually appealing way.
Our first focus was on how to create the right atmosphere through color. We thoroughly researched the color palettes frequently seen in Seongsu-dong, the spatial preferences of the area, and how to align our design with the surrounding environment. Given the corridor-like layout of the space, a long main pathway was inevitable. The challenge was to ensure that this long corridor didn't feel monotonous but instead became an engaging and attractive feature of the design.
Maximizing the sense of depth within the space was key to our approach. We wanted the space to feel more expansive and layered, allowing customers to experience visual depth and intrigue as they moved through the store. This was essential to enhancing the overall design and making the space feel complete.
Ultimately, Olive Young wanted a departure from their usual style, and we focused on creating a unique store that reflects the distinct vibe and spatial qualities of Seongsu-dong, offering customers a fresh and engaging experience at Olive Young.
